Maura Carey is the Clinical Manager and Director of Cherry Blossom Therapy, a centre of excellence in integrative and trauma-informed psychotherapy based in Westmeath. An accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Maura is an experienced psychotherapist, lecturer, and clinical supervisor who works with individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
Maura holds a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Adolescents and Children, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. She also holds a Higher Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Family Systemics, a Diploma in Clinical Supervision, and postgraduate qualifications in Trauma-Informed Practice, Mindfulness. Level 9 QQI award in Teaching and Learning in Higger Educstion. Her academic background reflects a strong commitment to lifelong learning and the integration of theory, creativity, and relational depth in practice.
Through Cherry Blossom Therapy, Maura leads a multidisciplinary team of over thirty psychotherapists, alongside an occupational therapist and a reflexologist. The practice provides counselling, psychotherapy, supervision, consultancy, and professional training to individuals, organisations, and community groups, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety and empowerment.
Maura facilitates individual, group, and organisational supervision, supporting practitioners to deepen their clinical presence and reflective capacity. She also provides consultancy and bespoke training for schools, businesses, and professional teams, focusing on wellbeing, trauma awareness, and the development of psychologically safe environments, along with bespoke workshops.
In addition to her clinical and supervisory work, Maura has extensive experience in psychotherapy education. She previously served as Programme Leader for a degree programme in Counselling and Psychotherapy and has supervised both undergraduate and master’s level research students. She currently lectures in psychotherapy and leads several professional training programmes. Maura has recently set up her own school of Psychotherapy, including the Diploma in Integrative Adolescent Psychotherapy, Diploma in Group Therapy and facilitation, and Diploma in Couples Therapy.
Maura also delivers a range of continuing professional development opportunities, including the popular CPD in Sand Tray Therapy, Creative Supervision Through Sand Tray Therapy, and other bespoke CPD courses designed to support professional and personal growth among therapists.
She is currently completing a Doctorate in Psychotherapy, exploring inner strength as a distinct psychological construct in adults who have experienced developmental trauma. Her research contributes to a more compassionate, holistic understanding of trauma recovery and the human capacity for growth and meaning-making.

Her upcoming podcast, Therapy Talk with Cherry Blossom, continues her mission to make therapeutic conversations accessible, engaging, and human, offering real insights into the world of psychotherapy, healing, and emotional wellbeing.
