Bio: Colby Pearce is a Clinical Psychologist who lives and works on Kaurna (pronounced Garna), Ngarrindjeri (pronounced Narinjeri), and Nukunu (pronounced Nookanoo) country in the land known as Australia. Across more than thirty years, Colby has worked continuously with children and young people who were deemed to be unsafe at home, and adults who interact with them in care and professional roles.
He maintains two busy psychotherapy clinics, but also finds time to write and deliver programs intended to enhance awareness of the experience, needs, and therapeutic care of children and young people who have experienced complex childhood trauma.
Colby also works in a supervisory capacity with individuals and teams who support therapeutic residential child care, stabilisation of kinship care arrangements, transition from and post-guardianship care, and family reunification. For fourteen years, to 2024, Colby held appointments in the national regulation scheme for health practitioners in Australia, with a focus on the psychology profession.
Colby is the host of The Secure Start Podcast and creator of the Secure Start AURA Apps. He has authored numerous periodical articles and two books.
Colby’s work sees him engaged with individuals and organisations in Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. He consults internationally as a subject matter expert in child protection and out-of-home care. He has a special interest in the experience of adults who work in these sectors.
