Jason is an experienced Educational Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care, Professional Council (HCPC), and is the Director of Proximal Psychology & Consultancy Services (PPCS). Jason has worked in both Local Authority services and Private Practice.
He has an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Hertfordshire; a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Hertfordshire; and a Doctorate in professional, educational, child and adolescent psychology from University College London, Institute of Education.
Prior to practicing as an Educational Psychologist, Jason was a qualified Probation Officer and worked with children, young people, and adults involved in the youth and criminal justice systems respectively. He has years of experience working with children who have been excluded from mainstream school, ‘looked after children’, children and young people who are gang-affected, and those who present with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). More recently, Jason was the lead Educational Psychologist for the Youth Justice Service, Behaviour and Inclusion, and Pupil Referral Units (PRU) at a London Borough’s Educational Psychology Service.
Jason has a special interest in supporting the needs of children and young people with care experience and adverse childhood experiences and trauma. Jason founded PPCS on the premise of making assessments and support more accessible for some of the most vulnerable children in complex circumstances.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Professional Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology (DEdPsy); Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology; Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Criminal Justice; Diploma in Probation Studies (DiPS)
